The Four Winds : A Novel by Kristin Hannah (Author) ( Kindle Edition ) Kindle eBook | Books
The Four Winds is a touching story about the Dust Bowl storms of the 1930’s, and subsequent struggles for survival as many people migrated to California in search of work and refuge. Hannah tells a story not unlike “The Grapes of Wrath”, but from the voice and perspective of a woman, Elsa Martinelli. Elsa encounters many extreme trials and discovers grit and courage from within. This book brings to life a difficult period of time in American history. Kristin Hannah knows how to tell an unforgettable story, describe a setting in such detail you feel as though you’ve actually visited the time and place, and create characters that will remain embedded in your heart long after you finish the last chapter.
The Four Winds is an interesting read. The monotony of the days during the drought is evident throughout the story. The struggle is made real through the eyes of the characters and the historical descriptions of the period.
