The Nightengale was a real page turner. It's a fictional story book but it is based on a true story about a young women who was an activist during WW2. The author was so focused on details; her research was spot on. Parts of it were so real that the reader felt like they were actually in the novel.
This book is an incredible work of art that delineates the tragedy of war and the incredible triumph of the human spirit. Kristin Hannah's writing is hauntingly beautiful and her characters grip your soul. She portrays the Nazi occupation of France with such clarity that France's suffering is finally portrayed in all its sorrow, desperation, and bravery.
