The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides it is a book about criminal psychology, if you don't understand that or do not like that, don’t read it, but otherwise, if you can understand the ways of the mind and liked to read about that is a must-read, the author has a good knowledge about psychology and how the events of the childhood can lead you to what you are when you grow up, the plot is with a steady pace, giving clues about what is going on in every page, the characters are well described and real and the trama is fascinating, an unexpected end that makes the book move you inside much more than with the expected end, that you need to read to know.
This book revolves primarily around a patient living in an Private Psychiatric Clinic and the psychotherapist treating her. The patient is an artist convicted for having shot her husband in the head, killing him, then became mute, refusing to defend herself, or participating in her treatment initially. It is a fascinating read with a strong focus on the childhood of the silent patient, the challenges of working with a patient of this type, and how the psychotherapist shares much of his own experiences in order to work with her. The patients and those working in the clinic have their stories woven into the story as well. The book is well written.
